Who we’re looking for:

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety, Security and Environment, the Specialist, Environment will support the team to deliver on environmental expectations using strong environmental knowledge, combined with an understanding of the operating and regulatory environment. We are looking for:

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain surface water and ground water management plans for multiple facilities in Alberta and British Columbia.  

  • Monitor air, water, and effluent permit compliance and support the permitting process.

  • Review, and maintain guidelines, procedures, and standards.

  • Perform site characterization, impact assessments and/or remediation related to air and water quality and quantity.

  • Monitor the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants and industrial storm and surface water management processes.

  • Perform assessments for vegetation control, land drainage and erosion, flare risk assessments, and routine environmental site inspections.

  • Coordinate environmental contractors conducting groundwater and surface water monitoring.

What you bring:

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Environmental Sciences, Health and Safety or related field.  

  • 8+ years’ relevant environmental experience.

  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, industry standards and best practices.  

  • Proficiency in use of computers and computer products.

  • Experience in supporting investigations. 

 

Preferred

  • Completion of Professional Registration or Certification (CRSP or CSP or CIH or ROH or EP).  

  • Experience using defined processes for managing environment, health and safety risks.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000. Final compensation for this position will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate and will be aligned to internal equity.
